In May of 2012 Howell Kline Surveying, LLC (HKS) was contacted by Foreman Architects of Zelienople, PA about performing an existing conditions survey at Penn Delco School District's Sun Valley High School campus. The School District was planning to undertake site improvements at several locations around the High School Campus, and needed an accurate and detailed plan of their existing facilities. This plan would be the base upon which the proposed improvements would be designed. After discussing the School Districts needs with Foreman Architects and the School Districts Director of Facilities it was determined that a field run topographic survey would produce the level of detail required for the project.
In addition to the topographic survey Howell Kline Surveying was tasked with contracting and coordinating subcontractors for a wetlands investigation and on-site underground utility location. Wolf Biological Services, Inc. of Downingtown was contracted to perform a site investigation to determine if regulated wetlands existed on the property and if so would the proposed improvements impact them. Underground Services, Inc. of West Chester, PA was contracted to mark out the underground utilities in the specific areas of the proposed improvements. HKS then located the marked out area and added it to the plan of survey.
The surveyed portion of the campus encompassed approximately 30 acres. Howell Kline's filed crew worked closely with Underground Services, Inc., the Director of Facilities, and the school's maintenance staff to quickly and efficiently gather field data necessary to generate the base plan. The field work was then drafted in AutoDesk Civil 3D and provided to the architect in cadd and PDF format. The project was completed ahead of schedule and for the agreed upon price.
